CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-87- ��)= r
A RESOLUTION GRANTING AN EXCEPTION TO THE
TAMARAC SIGN CODE TO CAPITOL SIGNS FOR THE
INSTALLATION OF A WALL SIGN FOR SILK GREEN-
HOUSE, 6820 UNIVERSITY DRIVE, TAMARAC,
FLORZDA; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the owners of Silk Greenhouse Company are
desirous of locating within a building at 6820 University
Drive, Tamarac, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Silk Greenhouse Company must have signage as
depicted on Exhibit "A" prior to occupancy at 6820 University
Drive, Tamarac, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Capitol Signs, Fort Lauderdale, Florida has
submitted an application for the proposed sign, following
proper procedure, to the Planning Commission of the City of
Tamarac, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission decision was to require
a change in the color to that which the Silk Greenhouse could
not comply with; and
WHEREAS, Silk Greenhouse respectfully appeals that
decision to be allowed to install signage as shown on Exhibit
"A" with colors as shown on Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 21-12 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, the City Council may grant
exceptions from the requirements of the Sign Code; and
WHEREAS, the owners/petitioners have filed all necessary
fees, forms, and petitions; and
WHEREAS, due to the importance to the City of Tamarac
and its residents for major shopping areas to be occupied in
order to improve the appearance of the city, and reduce areas
that might otherwise be health or crime hazards; and
WHEREAS, the requested sign is required by their nation-
al logo; and

WHEREAS, the appropriate Staff supports the request of
the owner based on the above recited facts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the appeal of the decision of the
Planning Commission and exception to the Sign Code which
would allow for installation of the sign as depicted with all
colors on Exhibit "A", is hereby granted.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Tamarac,
Florida hereby acknowledges. it would be in the best interest
of the City of Tamarac, Florida to allow for occupancy of
Silk Greenhouse with signage as depicted on Exhibit "A".
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage.
