CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-87- ►Z547
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
URGING FLORIDA'S TWO U.S. SENATORS AND MEMBERS OF
THE STATE'S CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION TO SUPPORT
AND PUSH FOR A NATIONAL HEALTH CARE PROGRAM IN
1987;. AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the cost of medical care has continued to
escalate during the 1980's; and
.WHEREAS, cuts in Medicaid, Medicare and other health-
care services has imposed an intolerable financial burden on
'the elderly and poor; and
WHEREAS, the United States continues to be one of the
few industrialized nations in the world that doesn't offer a
program of national health care.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
ECTI 1: That U.S. Senators Lawton Chiles and Bob
Graham and the members of Florida's U.S. Congressional
delegation are hereby urged to make 1987 the year that the
United States enacts a national health-care program that will
provide quality, affordable health care to every American.
SECTION 2: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to
send a copy of this resolution to Florida's two U.S. Senators
and every member of the States Congressional delegation.
SECTION 3_ This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon adoption.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 11Z�4 day of
1987.
