Reso. #4727 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO. R-87-a�? A RESOLUTION REVISING CERTAIN BUILDING DEPARTMENT PERMIT FEES; REPEALING RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Section 7-4 of the Tamarac City Code authorizes the City council to review, alter, add to, modify, deduct from or in any other way change any fees or any categories of building permit fees by Resolution; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief Building Official has recommended that a review of such fees should be made; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed and accepts these recommendations; and WHEREAS, the Building Department has submitted a memo- randum explaining the changes and additions to the Tamarac Building Permit Schedule of Fees; NOW, 'THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1 : That the Schedule of Permit Fees, attached hereto and made part hereof, dated August 12, 1987, is hereby adopted. SECTION 2 All resolutions or parts of resolutions including fee schedules in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Each application shall be accompanied by a plan indicating the exact nature and location of the desired improvements and an itemized, estimated cost of all site improvements, certified by the applicant's engineer or accountant. The cost of the improvement permit and inspection fees shall be paid in accordance with the following schedule, prior to the issuance of permits for the site work: (a) Canal excavation and bulkheads, bridges, seawalls, endwalls, headwalls, water distribution, site preparation and beautification . . . . . . . . . . . 6�% of construction cost (b) All other improvements . . . . . . . 7�% of construction cost (c) Minimum Total Fee. . . . . . . . . . $450.00 To be assessed to any improvement project for which a site development plan is required. (d) Reinspection fee . . . . . . . . . . $20.00 The permit and inspection fees shall be credited to a separate account and plan review and engineering inspection expenses shall be paid from this account. Notwithstanding the fee schedule set forth in this section, in the event additional inspections are required by the City Engineer because the work of which an inspection has been requested is incomplete, obviously deficient or uncorrected at the time the contractor has requested an inspection, or plans approved by the City Engineer are not available at the jobsite, or a correct permit is not visibly displayed, the contractor shall pay an additional fee of twenty ($20.00) dollars before any reinspection is made. Written records of each requested inspection and reinspection shall be placed in the project's master file. The final cost of any or all site improvements shall be certified by the permittee's engineer or accountant before the Certificate of Occupancy is issued, which shall be accompanied by an itemized accounting listing unit costs. SECTION B: MISCELLANEOUS FEES 1. Excavations (land, canal or lakes) fill or earth moving: (a) 500 cubic yards or less - Minimum $100.00 (b) 501 cubic yards or more - 6z% of cost of job based on minimum cost of $1.00 per cubic yard - payable monthly. 1-1 Excavations and filling of excavations in A--5 Districts Original fee $500.00 plus 6z% of cost of job. 'Minimum cost $1.00 per cubic yard. Annual renewal fee $300.00 plus 6�% of cost of job minimum cost $1.00 per cubic yard payable monthly. *Sworn affidavit of cost relating to Items 1 and 1-1 shall be required. SECTION C: In the event of an emergency requiring immediate repairs a person or firm may proceed with such repairs; provided however, an application for the permit and the payment of appropriate fees are made during the first succeeding business day of the City Building Department. PAGE 2 SECTION D: As set forth in Section 301 of the South Florida Building Code, it is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to fail to acquire a proper permit prior to the commencement of any construction, alteration or repair on or within private property, and such act is punishable as provided in Section 1-6 of the Tamarac City Code. SECTION E: Certification maintenance - All permits for new construction 1/100th of 1% of estimated cost ($0.01 per $100.00). • All fees collected for certification maintenance shall be reserved for education and schooling to maintain certification of personnel as required by the South Florida Building Code. SECTION F: PERMIT FEE BASED ON COST OF JOB: 1. No permit shall be required for general maintenance or repairs which do not change the Occupancy and the value of which does not exceed eight hundred ($800.00) dollars in labor and material as determined by the Building Official.
