A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
APPOINTING RICHARD L. DOODY AS CITY ATTORNEY;
PROVIDING FOR A STARTING DATE OF EMPLOYMENT;
PROVIDING THAT THE CITY OF TAMARAC SHALL BE
DOODY'S ONLY CLIENT; PROVIDING FOR A STARTING
SALARY; PROVIDING FOR A SALARY WITH A REVIEW
UPON COMPLETION OF A SUCCESSFUL SIX (6) MONTH
PROBATIONARY PERIOD; PROVIDING FOR A SIX (6)
MONTH PROBATIONARY PERIOD FOR EMPLOYMENT;
PROVIDING FOR BENEFITS AND A CAR ALLOWANCE;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE PAY UPON TERMINATION
BY THE COUNCIL SHOULD SUCH TERMINATION OCCUR
AFTER A SUCCESSFUL PROBATIONARY PERIOD;
PROVIDING THAT DOODY IS AN AT WILL EMPLOYEE;
PROVIDING FOR WRITTEN NOTICE TO CITY SHOULD
DOODY DESIRE TO TERMINATE HIS EMPLOYMENT;
PROVIDING FOR A REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1 : RICHARD L. DOODY shall be appointed to
serve as City Attorney of the City of Tamarac subject to the
following conditions, which DOODY has agreed to by signature
to a letter of August 21, 1987, a copy of which is attached
as Exhibit "A", and incorporated by a reference herein:
1. DOODY will begin to serve as City Attorney on
September 28, 1987 and throughout the term of his
holding such office shall perform no legal work for
clients other than the City of Tamarac.
2. That as of September 28, 1987, DOODY will receive a
salary of $45,000.00 per year payable in 26 equal
installments at such pay periods as all other City
Employees are paid.
3. For six (6) months following the first day of
DOODY'S employment, he shall be subject to proba-
tion. Should Council make a determination to

terminate DOODY'S position within said probationary
period or immediately upon the conclusion of said
probationary period, then DOODY shall not be
entitled to severance pay.
4. Upon a successful completion of that six (6) month
probationary period described in paragraph 3 of
this Resolution, Council shall review DOODY'S
salary and may or may not determine to change
same. Upon a successful completion of that six (6)
month probationary period described in paragraph 3
of this Resolution, City shall make a $3,750.00
contribution to the ICMA Pension Fund on DOODY'S
behalf, which is an annual rate of $7,500.00.
5. After three (3) months from the period upon which
DOODY begins employment with the City, both he and
his family shall be entitled to participate in
either City hospitalization plan offered to City
employees. DOODY immediately upon commencement of
employment shall be entitled to that $1,000.00
benefit option provided to all other City employees
pursuant to the City's established Personnel
policies.
6. Commencing September 28, 1987 DOODY will receive a
car allowance of $3,600.00 per year. Same shall be
payable in twelve (12) equal monthly installments.
7. Should DOODY be terminated, after a successful
completion of that probationary period described in
paragraph 3 of this Resolution, then he will be
given three (3) months severance pay.
8. In no case, following, prior to, or upon the
conclusion of, that probationary period described
in paragraph 3 of this Resolution shall DOODY be
considered to have a property right in his office.
DOODY is an at will employee of the City and may be
terminated without cause at any time by the
council.

August 21, 1987
On behalf of the Mayor and Council, I am pleased to offer
you the position as City Attorney for the City of Tamarac.
We discussed the terms of employment, and I want to
submit them to you in writing so there is no misunderstanding
as to what we agreed upon.
1. Starting salary $45,000.00 per year, and your
starting date will be Monday, September 28, 1987.
2. Six (6) months probationary period.
3. After six (6) months probationary period there will
be a review of your salary by Council and they may
or may not determine to change same.
4. After six (6) months probationary period the City
shall contribute $3,750.00 to your ICMA Pension Fund
which is an annual rate of $7,500.00.
5. Three (3) months after your starting date, you and
your family would be eligible for a choice of one of
our hospitalization plans.
6. Effective September 28, 1987, you will receive a car
allowance of $3,600.00 per year to be payable in
twelve (12) monthly installments.
7. If you are terminated by Council, after the six (6)
month probationary period, you will be given three
(3) months severance pay.
8. Should you desire to terminate your employment with
the City you will be required to provide the City
with thirty (30) days prior written notice.
