CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-85--ZL
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FLUORIDATION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC'S WATER SUPPLY; REQUIRING
FEDERAL GRANT FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF
FLUORIDATION EQUIPMENT; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVEDATE.
WHEREAS, the Broward County Code encourages municipali-
ties to introduce fluorides into water supplies intended for
human consumption; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that fluorida-
tion of the City's water supply is in the best interests of
the City's residents due to fluoridation's proven benefits in
dental protection, the strengthening of bones and in
preventing osteoporosis; and
WHEREAS, federal funding in the form of a grant from the
Florida Fluoridation Project Grant may be available to offset
the cost of fluoridation equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTIQU-1: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
hereby authorizes the fluoridation of the City's water
supply.
SECTION 2: This project may proceed when the City
receives federal funding the Florida Fluoridation Project
Grant administered by the Public Health Dental Program of the
Department of Health and Rehabilitative Ser vices for the
purpose of purchasing, installing, operating and maintaining
equipment, chemicals and supplies for fluoridation purposes.
E TI That the proper City officials are hereby
authorized and directed to take all necessary steps to ensure
the acquisition of grant funds and thereafter abide by all
the terms and conditions of the grant agreement.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its passage.
