SECTION. That this City Council realizes it is
not feasible for our City to singularly try to tackle the
problem of juvenile crime. This City Council supports any
and all amendments to the State Criminal Code which would
insure that multiple juvenile offenders be prevented from
continuing to violate our society's rules.
Further, this City Council requests that the State
Legislature do all that is legitimately possible to un-
cover the layers of legal protection which juvenile offen-
ders hide behind. The Council supports every legislative
effort to streamline State Law and to deal aggressively
with juvenile crime.
The Council reminds all parents in the community
that they are responsible and liable for the acts of their
children under the age of eighteen (18) years pursuant to
Florida Statute 741.24 and City Code Section 15-17.
The City Council herein requests that the Broward
Delegation to the State Legislature support an increase
in the current cap on parental liability from $2,500.00
to $5,000.00.
All citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac are
requested to take a leading role in effecting and supporting
legislatively the changes suggested herein and to tackle the
formidable problems created by juvenile crime.
