CITY OF TAM RAC, FLORIDA

A RESOLUTION OBJECTING TO THE SIERIFF'S INTER-
VENTION INTO TAMARAC'S POLICE PATROLS, URGING
THE SHERIFF TO WITHDRAW HIS PERSONNEL AND TEND
TO HIS OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES.
1AHEREAS, the Tamarac Police Department has original jurisdiction for
enforcement within the municipal boundaries of the City of Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the Broward Sheriff's Office has insisted on patroling the
streets of Tamarac over the objections of the City Manager and the Police Chief
a1d without any.official request of the City Council; and
UM EAS, no state of emergency exist in Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the Broward Sheriff's Office has limited resources and
restraints; and
WHEREAS, the Broward Sheriff's Office has primary responsibility for
enforcement in the unincorporated areas of the County and other duties
the jail, the courts and civil responsibilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That based upon the above facts. Broward County Sheriff
ck Navarro, is hereby urged to withdraw his personnel from the Tamarac
nicipal boundaries unless and until there is a specific request by the
spatcher for a backup or assistance or until an official request for routine
trols is properly made on behalf of the City of Tamarac.
SECTION 2: That the City Manager is authorized and directed to
a copy of this Resolution delivered to the Office of Sheriff Nick
.Navarro.
