A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT TO THE CITY OF TAMARAC LAND USE PLAN ELEMENT AT PAGE EIGHT (8), LAND USE CATEGORIES, PRO- VIDING FOR A CATEGORY FOR "WATER", AND AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION TO THE BROWARD COUNTY PLANNING COUNCIL FOR RECERTIFI- CATION OF THE TAMARAC LAND USE PLAN ELE- MENT AS�AMENDED BY CQUN9,IL_. —,-- WHEREAS, the City has adopted a land use plan element which has been certified by the Broward County Planning Council; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to amend said element as provided in Florida Statute (163); and WHEREAS, the City has held public hearings to amend the land use plan element at which the parties in interest and all other citizens so desiring had an opportunity to be and were heard; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: T That page eight (8) of the City's land use plan element, entitled Land Use Categories, shall be amended so to provide for a Land Use category, "WATER", which shall provide in full as follows: WATER - This category includes a waterway or any body of water used for drainage purposes of rain water which flows in the manner described by the City of Tamarac Code as said code may be amended from time to time. SE TIQN 2: That the City Planner is hereby authorized and instructed to transmit said amendments to the Broward UU -1- County Planning Council for recertification of the land use plan element. E TI That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized and instructed to advertise public hearings for the final adoption of the land use plan element as amended upon recertification of same for the Broward County Planning Council. SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall become effec- tive immediately upon passage. Revision: The chapter titled "land -Use Categories" of text in the Tamarac Land Use Element is proposed to be amended by adding a category for Water and defining use. Water -Light Blue on the Land Use Map. This cate ory includes - A waterway or any body of water used for drains a purposes of rain- water which flows in the manner described by the City of Tamarac Code, as amended from time to time. Page 1 0£ 2 EXHIBIT "A" RESOLUTI014 86-80 LAND USE CATEGORIES The following land use categories are used in all discussions of present and future land uses contained in this report. Residential Dwelling units/acre a. Low density 0 - 5 This density range is usually characterized by to single family homes zoned either R-IB or R-1C. b. Low medium density 5 - 10 This density range is usually characterized by small lot single family homes, duplexes, tri- plexes and townhouses. R-1, R-2, and R-3U are the most common zoning districts in this category. c. Medium density 10 - 15 Garden apartments are characteristic of this density range. R-3 and R-4A are the Tamarac zoning districts in this density range. d. Medium high density 15 - 21 Three story multi -family dwellings are characteristic of this density. The City has instituted a 15 dwelliing unit per acre cap on all future development so that only existing apartment complexes fall within this density range. Commercial This category includes all areas devoted to business and office uses of retail, wholesale and service nature and is usually zoned in one of the "B" districts. industrial This category includes all areas devoted to the fabrication, packaging and/or storage of products, including research and development facilities. M-1 is the most common zoning district for these uses. Parks and Recreation This category includes golf courses, private and public parks, and recreation complexes. These areas can be zoned S-1 or any other category that permits park and recreation facilities. Community Facilities This category includes schools, churches and hospitals and may be zoned I-1 or any other zoning district that permits these uses. Water Transportation Page 2 of 2
