A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
4 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, URGING THE
BROWARD COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO
5 DENY THE REQUEST OF CORAL RIDGE PROPERTIES,
INC. FOR THE DE -ANNEXATION OF APPROXIMATELY
6 1,740 ACRES OF LAND CURRENTLY IN THE CITY
OF PARKLAND; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO
7 FORWARD A COPY HEREOF TO THE MEMBERS OF'THE
BROWARD COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION;
8 _ PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
9 WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City
10 Commission of the City of Tamarac, that Coral Ridge Properties, Inc.,
11 has made a preliminary proposal to the Broward County Legislative
12 Delegation for passage of a Local Bill to de -annex approximately
13 1,740 acres of land owned by Coral Ridge Properties, Inc. from the
14 City of Parkland to unincorporated Broward County; and
15 WHEREAS, the rezoning of land and amendments to the
16 Broward County Land Use Plan should remain a local concern to be
17 dealt with by local governments; and
18 WHEREAS, to allow Coral Ridge Properties, Inc. to de-
19 annex their property would create an adverse county and state-wide
20 precedent and establish the Broward County Legislative Delegation as
21 a super zoning board; and

WHEREAS, to allow Coral Ridge Properties, Inc. to de-
23 annex their property from the City of Parkland is against the best
24 interest of every city in Broward County in regard to controlling
its own growth and development; and

WHEREAS, such action would create an unsettling at-
27 mosphere among cities in Broward County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF

29 THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

SECTION 1: That the Broward County Legislative Dele-
gation is strongly urged to deny the request of Coral Ridge Properties,

Inc. for a Local Bill which would de -annex 1,740 acres of land in

33 the City of Parkland.

SECTION 2: That the City Clerk is hereby directed
to send a copy hereof to the members of the Broward County Legislative
Delegation and the members of the Broward County Board of County
Commissioners.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall be in full
force and effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
