HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity of Tamarac Resolution R-84-3831 2 3 4 ' 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 r 29 1 30 wgp* -s a1F� 32 33 34 Introduced by: m Temp. #3402 Rev. 11/26/84 Rev. 11/28/84 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO. /L�� ✓��,� A RESOLUTION CONCERNING PROPOSED CAPITAL EXPENDITURES, AFFECTING RESIDENTS SERVICED BY TAMARAC UTILITIES EAST (EAST OF STATE ROAD 7) PROPOSING THE REPLACEMENT OF SIX (6) PUMP STATIONS AT THE COST OF $200,000; PROPOSING _ THE CONVERSION OF OBSOLETE SEPTIC TANKS INTO THE PUBLIC SEWER SYSTEM AT THE COST OF $300,000; PROVIDING FOR A REFERENDUM TO BE HELD ON MARCH 12, 1985; PROVIDING THAT IF A MAJORITY OF THE VOTERS APPROVE EITHER OF THE PROPOSED EXPENDITURES THEN UPON CERTIFICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE ELECTION RESULTS THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS MAY AUTHORIZE THE EXPENDITURE OF THE APPROVED FUNDS; PROVIDNG FOR SEVERABILITY OF INVALID PROVISIONS; AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Section 7.13 of the City Charter requires referendum approval by the voters for any appropriation of City funds for capital expenditures in excess of one and one- half percent (1.5%) of the current budget (for the 1984-85 budget this affects such expenditures in excess of $150,000); and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the pro- posed capital projects and improvements are in the best interests of the residents serviced by Tamarac Utilities East. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: =ION1: That the following proposed expenditures are to be presented to the electorate of the City of Tamarac serviced by Tamarac Utilities East (only precincts 11J and 17J), at the March 12, 1985 election and if either of the proposed expenditures is approved by a majority of the electorate at said election the appropriate city officials may authorize the expenditure of funds for the approved cap- ital projects and improvements. -1- UU Thrnp. #3402 Rev. 11/26/84 Rev. 11 /28 /84 1 2 3 4 S 1 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 r 29 I 30 .:1. 32 33 34 TAMARACUTILITIES EAST PROPOSED CAPITAL EXPEND T_�URE #1 A capital expenditure is proposed for the replace- ment of six (6) pump stations that are mechanically unsound and are requiring constant maintenance. Funds for this project will be obtained from impact fees and other revenues collected by Tamarac Utilites East in an amount not to exceed $200,000, as may be needed during the next five (5) years. ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF AUTHORIZING CITY COUNCIL TO PROCEED WITH THIS CAPITAL PROJECT? YES NO T T X A capital expenditure is proposed for the conversion of obsolete septic tanks now serving 72 homes to make the existing public sewer system available to them, completing the public sewer system and reversing the pollution of ground water. Funds for this project would be obtained from government grants already ap- proved, the capital reserve fund and other legally available funds in an amount up to $300,000. (Individual hookups to the houses involved will be funded by an assessment to the affected homeowners.) ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF AUTHORIZING THE CITY COUNCIL TO PROCEED WITH THIS CAPITAL PROJECT? SECT O,BN 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption, and the appropriate City officials are authorized to take whatever actions are neces- sary to see that this matter is placed on the March 12, 1985 ballot.
