HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity of Tamarac Resolution R-84-1871 L] 1 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 Introduced by Temp. #3177 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO.1�- �X Z A RESOLUTION URGING THE BROWARD COUNTY COMMISSION TO ESTABLISH ONE OR MORE TRAUMA CENTERS IN BROWARD COUNTY; AND PROVIDING AN 1 2 3 4 5 6' 7 8 _ WHEREAS, trauma resulting from severe personal injury is a unique condition requiring immediate, efficient and complex care in the most urgent circumstances; and WHEREAS, the Florida state landmark Trauma Bill became law on October 1, 1982; and WHEREAS, the Florida State Legislature, in March of 1982, enacted FS 395.031 prohibiting any hospital from operating a trauma center unless the same was verified by the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida has not established a network of "verified" trauma centers; and WHEREAS, studies in areas including Orange and Los Angeles counties, California, have demonstrated that deaths resulting from automobile accidents and other catastrophes can be markedly reduced through trauma center care; and WHEREAS, Broward County does not have any trauma centers in -operation; and WHEREAS, the importance of pursuing the saving of lives must be given a top priority status. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA. 5.B.QT1Q.1-1: That the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County, Florida is hereby urged to implement the establishment of Trauma Care Centers for Broward County. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to provide copies of this Resolution to the Broward County Commissioners; to the Broward Emergency Medical Directors Association; to the Broward County Chapters of Emergency 1 UUI Temp. #3177 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 1s 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 Department Nurses Association (EDNA); to the Florida Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP); to the Paramedics Association for Continuing Education (PACE) and to George Brescher, Sheriff of Broward County.
