CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-83--
A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING THE BOARD OF
BROWARD COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO REZONE
PETITION 31-Z-w83 FROM "A-1" TO "OFFICE
PARK" ZONING CLASSIFICATION; AND PRO -
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has been pursuing well -
planned community growth since the adoption of its first Land
Use Plan in 1972; and
WHEREAS, 31-Z-83 has been submitted by Joseph T. Reese
requesting the Board of County Commissioners to rezone a
parcel of land designated as Industrial on Broward County
Land Use Plan from A-1 (Agriculture) to M-2 (Medium Ind-
ustrial) located in Tamarac's Annex Reserve area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has informed the Board of
Broward County Commissioners that current certified municipal
Land Use Plans reflect an overabundance of existing and
planned industrial areas in Broward County and more parr
ticularly surrounding the existing residential communities
located in Tamarac, Oakland Park, and unincorporated Broward
County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac Planning Commission has
conducted an analytical study of industrial land in Broward
County and has determined that the parcel would be more
appropriately developed for corporate office purposes.
,ECTION ls_ That the proposed Rezoning Petition
31-Z-83 from A-1 to M-2 (Medium Industrial) reflects poor
planning and will reduce the quality of life of the existing
adult residential communities surrounding the parcels.
SECTIOIIL_ _ 2, That the Board of Broward County Com-
missioners is encouraged to approve, in lieu of the proposed
rezoning to M-2, the rezoning of the property to a more res-
trictive "Office Park" zoning district in order to protect
the residential neighborhoods surrounding the parcel.

SECTION 3: That the City Clerk is authorized and
directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the County
Administrator, Board of County Commissioners, Director of
Planning Department and Administrator of the Planning Council
and the applicant.
,ECTIQN,4- This Resolution shall become effective upon
adoption.
