RESOLUTION No. R-83:;,_Z�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC OPPOSING
CONSOLIDATION OF FIRE RESCUE SERVICES IN
BROWARD COUNTY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners
will be considering the providing of fire and rescue services through-
out Broward County and its municipalities with a county -wide consol-
idated fire and rescue services under the jurisdiction and supervi-
sion of Broward County; and
WHEREAS, the Broward County League of Cities has established
a Fire Services Study Committee with impetus from the Governmental
Efficiency Study Committee which was appointed by Governor Bob Graham;
and
WHEREAS, the Broward County League of Cities has developed a
plan to provide fire services and improve the existing services by
having the municipalities provide fire service to adjacent unincor-
porated areas; and
WHEREAS, municipalities can and do render a more efficient
fire and rescue service than can be expected from the Broward County
system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the City of Tamarac hereby expresses its
opposition and objection to a system that would provide fire and
rescue services on a county -wide basis through a single department
under the jurisdiction and control of the Board of County Commissioner:
of Broward County.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is directed to send copies
of this Resolution to the members of the Broward County Board of
Commissioners and the Executive Director of the Broward County League
of Cities.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon
adoption.
