CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-83-266
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE CITY COUNCIL'S
CONCERNS OVER TWO (2) PROPOSED LAND USE
AMENDMENTS TO BROWARD COUNTY'S UNINCORPORATED
LAND USE PLAN; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council
that Amendments #3-AC-83 and #4-AC-83 to Broward County's
Unincorporated Land Use Plan within Tamarac's annexation
reserve area have been initialed for governmental review and
processing; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has been pursuing well
planned community growth since the adoption of its first land
use plan in 1972; and
WHEREAS, the amendments propose to change an existing
community facility parcel to industrial purposes; and
WHEREAS, a recent analytical study prepared by the City
of Tamarac indicated that 60% of the present parcels identified
for industrial purposes by Broward County Planning Council's
Land Use Plan are vacant and ready for development.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA;
SECTION 1.: That the proposed amendments to Broward
County's Unincorporated Land Use Plan reflect poor planning and
will reduce the quality of life of the existing adult residential
communities surrounding the parcels.
SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac
encourages the Board of Broward County Commissioners to deny the
amendments due to insufficient evidence to demonstrate the need
for more industrial property in an area that already contains
an overabundance of well planned industrial and commercial
property and other major employment centers.
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk is authorized and directed
to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the County Administrator,
Board of County Commissioners, Director of Planning Department and
Administrator of the Planning Council.

adoption.
