CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-83-2(e6
A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS FOR
THE OPERATION OF GOLF CARTS UNDER CERTAIN
RESTRICTIONS, PURSUANT TO FLORIDA SESSION
LAW 83-188, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE,
WHEREAS, Session Law 83-188 was enacted by the Florida
Legislature, authorizing municipalities and counties to designate
certain roads, other than state highways, for operation of golf
carts.under limited conditions; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to exercise its juris-
diction pursuant to said law;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the roads located in the following areas
in the City are designated for permitted operation of golf carts:,
a) Sabal Palms Golf Course area bounded;by Bailey

Road on the North, Rock Island Road on the West and the Sunshine
State Parkway (Florida Turnpike) on the East and South.
b) Woodlands Golf Course area bounded by Commercial
Boulevard on the North, Northwest 64th Avenue on the West, Northwest
44th Street on the South and Rock Island Road on the East.
c) Woodmont Golf Course area bounded by Southgate
Boulevard on the North, Pine Island Road (Northwest 88th Avenue) on
the West, West McNab Road on the South, and North University Drive
on the East.
d) Colony West Champion Golf Course area bounded by
West McNab Road on the North, Pine Island Road (Northwest 88th
Avenue) on the West, Northwest 61st Street on the South, and North
University Drive on the East.

e) The following streets are specifically not
designated and golf carts operation is not authorized on:
Bailey Road
Rock Island Road
Sunshine State Parkway (Florida Turnpike)
Commercial Boulevard
Northwest 64th Avenue
Northwest 44th Street
Southgate Boulevard
Pine Island Road (Northwest 88th Avenue)
West McNab Road
North University Drive
Northwest 61st Street
SECTION 2: That the following conditions governing
operation of golf carts on designated streets are hereby adopted as
provided by Florida Session Law 83-188:
a) A golf cart may only be operated when being used
to transport the owner or operator between his residence and the
golf course;
b) A g9lf cart may only be operated during those
hours falling between sunrise and sunset;
c) A golf cart must be equipped with efficient
brakes, reliable steering apparatus, safe tires, a rearview mirror,
and red reflectorized warning devices in both the front and rear; and
d) A golf cart must be operated by a person possess-
ing a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
SECTION 3: That as used herein "golf cart" means a,motor
vehicle designed and manufactured for operation on a golf course for
sporting or recreational purposes.

October 1, 1983.
