CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R- �5 - /o/
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
OPPOSING THE UNIFORM MUNICIPAL ELECTION DATES BILL
(H. B. 1143),.AND URGING THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE
TO OPPOSE THIS BILL.
WHEREAS the City of Tamarac, a n unicipal corporation in the State of
Florida, is concerned about providing services to all citizens; and
WHEREAS local govern ent functions are vital to the effective operation
of a mumicipality and should remain within the jurisdiction of said municipality;

WHEREAS County conducted municipal elections would be.a deterrent to
candidates who wish to serve the municipality by mandating filing and financial
reporting with the County; and
WHEREAS, passage of this proposed legislation would be a serious
erosion of the home rule authority;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Tamarac strongly opposes
the uniform municipal election dates bill (HB-1143) as presented, which provides
that all elections be conducted by the County Supervisor of Elections.

SECTION 2: The City Council urges all legislators to vote against
SECTION 3: The City Clerk is hereby directed to send a copy of this
Resolution to both Houses of the Florida Legislature including the Broward County
Legislative Delegation, the Florida League of Cities, the Braaard League of Cities,
and all Municipalities in Broward County.
SECTION 4: This Resolution shall take effect i mediately upon its
adoption.
