CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-82-382
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC EXPRESSING
THE CITY`S INTENT TO PARTICIPATE IN A PROGRAM
REGARDING THE PLAN OF SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL AND
RESOURCE RECOVERY WITH BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Broward County has requested that each municipality inl
Broward County sign an agreement relating to the solid waste disposal!
and resource recovery program with Broward County; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida re-
cognizes the need to take part in solving the solid waste disposal
problem in Broward County and to recover the resources in solid wastl
and to recycle them into reusable or energy products; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida at at
times wishes to cooperate with Broward County in all matters involv
the quality of life in Broward County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City of Tamarac strongly endorses the prin-
ciple of resource recovery and energy generation from solid waste.
SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Floric
expresses its intent to enter into an Agreement with Broward County
regarding Solid Waste Disposal and Resource Recovery depending upon
the reasonableness of the cost of construction of the Resource
Recovery project providing that all municipalities in Broward County
participate in this program.
SECTION 3: That the City Council of the City of Tamarac,Flori
pledges all residential solid waste collected within the City to the
program contingent upon its legal ability.
SECTION 4: The amount of waste to be generated is to be deter-
mined by the study done by Greenleaf Teleca. The City will not gen-
erate its own figures. %
SECTION 5: That this Resolution shall become effective imme-
diately upon adoption.
