CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-82-
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING SUGGESTED AMENDMENTS
TO CHAPTER 82-154, LAWS OF FLORIDA, WITH
RESPECT TO THE REDISTRIBUTION OF THE FIFTH
PENNY SALES TAX; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, several interested parties have suggested that
Chapter 82-154, Laws of the State of Florida, be amended to provide
for a.fifth penny sales tax distribution formula based on a combina-
tion of assessed valuation, population and point of collection; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, Florida,
bblieves that the present per capita distribution formula is t e most
equitable method of distribution of the fifth penny sales tax and
accords appropriate attention to the greatest need of the citizenry,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Expression of Opposition: That the City Cou cil of
the City of Tamarac, Florida, hereby_expresses its opposition to chanqes ro-
posed in Chapter 82-154, Laws of the State of Florida, which would
have the effect of amending the present distribution formula p rtain-
ing to the fifth penny of the sales tax and to provide for a d'stri-
bution formula based upon a combination of assessed valuation, popu-
lation and point of collection.
SECTION 2: That the City Clerk is hereby directed and autho=
rized to provide copies hereof to the Florida League of Cities
Broward County League of Cities, Governor Bob Graham, all municipali-
ties in Broward County and the Broward County Delegation.
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall take effect immediate y upon
its passage.
