R-82- 2 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE BROWARD COUNTY POLICE ACADEMY FOR ASSIGNMENT OF A TAMARAC POLICE OFFICER TO THE ACADEMY FOR ONE YEAR; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to execute an Agreement with the Broward County Police Academy for the assignment of Tamarac Police Officer Larry Leiman to the Academy as an instructor for one year. SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective retroactive to August 16, 1982. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this gam""- day of 11982. Anv excepl i•►rt• (go thi:a pl,lit•y whlelt atav .t. is•• 1 F-1ge Z ` • b�•cause. of thc- nerd for an instructor having specialized: qual.ifLeations � will be arranged between the Institute and TAl`PMC POLICE DEPARTMB T It is the Institute's intention that all personnel, while on assignment to the Institute as Instructors, will be evaluated by the Supervisory staff of the Institutc. These evaluations will he made available to the :TN4ARAC POLICE DEPARTMENT so that in accordance with any explicit provision of the TAMARAC POLICE DEPARTMENT these se evaluations can be utilized by the TAMARAC POLICE DEPT as it may drem necessary. To implement this policy the TAMARAC POLICE DEPT@ will assign to the Institute only those officers whom they determine can carry out the goals • and objectives of effective Law Enforcement Training. It is agreed that the tour of duty at the Institute will be from one to. two years. This means that TAMARAC POLICE DEPT. will not solicit the return of an Instructor during the first year of his/her assignment at the Institute unless such request involves an unusual opportunity for career advancement or an overriding need for the officer's return. These arrangements would not preclude extensions of assignments beyond two years as may be mutually agreed upon between TAMARAC POLICE DEPT. and the Institute. . Officers assigned to the Institute will be exempted from all ad»inisirative and operational requirements except court appearances. The identification and selection of top flight instructors depends upon the understanding and support that theTAMARAC P. D. employees in making such selection by issuing or reissuing an internal directive indicating*thnt an assignment to the Institute is one of the salient types of service that should be considered when looking at career development opportunities.
