CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-
A RESOLUTION PERMITTING THE IMMEDIATE
PROCUREMENT OF SERVICES OF HEAVY EQUIP-
MENT CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES IN THE
EVENT OF DISASTERS
WHEREAS, in response to disastrous events such as building
collapses, severe weather conditions, heavy equipment and major
vehicular accidents, and other circumstances that could involve the
rescue of -trapped occupants, it will be essential for Administrative
staff to secure the assistance of heavy equipment with operators
therefore, and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that in such instances
the routine purchasing procedures to secure these services would not
allow for immediate response required to minimize losses or potential
death toll, and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has submitted a list of companies,
which are located near the City and which have agreed to endeavor
to respond immediately to the City's call in such events, and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the use of
these firms for rescue efforts and to authorize the City Manager,
Fire Chief or Police Chief, or their designee to call one or more
of these companies, as required to aid in urgent rescue operations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City Manager, Fire Chief, or Police
Chief, are authorized, to contact the following companies under those
emergency conditions requiring the use of heavy equipment and trained
operators for rescue efforts:

SECTION 2: Immediately upon return to normal conditions
the requisitioning member of Administrative staff shall prepare
routine purchasing documentation and shall include a statement of
the circumstances which necessitated the emergency procurement of
the services of the heavy equipment and operators, the number and
type of equipment required, list of operators, hours of service,
and costs.
