A RESOLUTION URGING CESSATION OF THE NUCLEAR ALMS
5 RACE AMID A RIDUCTICN IN OUR NATIONS MII,IMW BUDGET
THAT WHILE INSURING A STRONG DEFENSE WOULD MVIDE
• FOR OUR ECCNOMIC SECURITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
8 VAMFFA.S, nuclear war can be neither limited nor won and we are
9 close to a point of no return; and
10 MEREAS, we believe that the military industrial complex has gone
11 on piling weapons upon weapons to overkill capacity that threatens civilization
12 itself; and
13 MOMS, the Reagan Administrations military budget gives the
:14 keys of the treasury to the Pentagon and this unprecedented action is largely respon-
13 sible for a deficit that is the highest in our nations history and has contributed to
16 high interest rates, record unemployment and a deepened recession.
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
36 SECTION 1: That the City Council calls.upon the United States and

the Soviet Union to immediately and jointly stop the nuclear arms race. Specifically
they should adapt an immediate nuclear freeze on all further testing, production and
21 deployment of nuclear weapons and of missiles and new aircraft designed primarily to
22 deliver nuclear weapons. This should be followed by the participation of other
23 nations and a consequent reduction in all nuclear arsenals arrived at mutually.
24 SECTION 2: That the Tamarac City Council calls for our nations
23 military budget to be deflated to a reasonable level which while it insures our
26 defense will not threaten our economic security.
27 SECTION 3: Copies of this resolution shall be sent to Senator
28 Lawton Chiles, Senator Paula Hawkins, and Congressman Dan Mica'for transmittal
29 to the President of the United States.
30 , SECTION 4: This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
