CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING PROPOSALS TO IMPOSE SALES TAX ON
GASOLINE SALES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Governor Graham has proposed the imposition of a sales
tax on gasoline sales; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is of the opinion that this proposed
tax is discriminatory in nature and definitely unfair to motorists who must
purchase gasoline in order to have necessary transportation; and
WHEREAS, the cost of gasoline, which already includes a very heavy
tax, is constantly increasing making transportation a very heavy burden
especially on people who must live on a fixed income.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That for the reasons set forth above, the City of
Tamarac opposes the proposed imposition of sales tax on gasoline sales.
SECTION 2: That a copy of this Resolution shall be provided to
all members of the Broward County Legislative Delegation, to the Broward
League of'Cities and to the Florida League of Cities.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall become effective upon
adoption.
