CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R- ?/— 902
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE CITY'S
INDIGNATION AND ABHORRENCE TO ACTS
OF ANTI-SEMITISM AND OTHER FORMS OF
BIGOTRY; PROVIDING FOR TRUE COPIES;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council has become aware of the rise of
un-Americanism, anti-semitism and all other forms of bigotry including
the emergence of neo-Naziism and activities of the Ku Klux Klan, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has witnessed in neighboring
jurisdictions acts of vandalism and desecration of houses of worship
affecting all faiths, and
WHEREAS, these aforementioned activities, if permitted to
continue unabated, pose a serious threat to our freedom, heritage,
culture and American way of life,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Statement of position. The City Council hereby
expresses its indignation and abhorrence in the permissiveness
generated by the foregoing acts and the perpetrators who commit them.
The City -Council hereby requests that the appropriate authorities
take such action as may be necessary to contain such activities.
SECTION 2: True Copies. The City Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to provide true copies of this resolution to
the following:
Florida Members of the U.S. Congress
State of Florida Legislators in Broward County
Delegation
Coalition of Condominium and Homeowners
Association of Broward County
Broward County Board of Commissioners
Anti -Defamation League of B'Nai B'rith
Editors of News media in Broward County
Broward League of Cities
Grey Panthers
SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective upon
its adoption.
