3 A RESOLUTION TO BE '.DIRECTED TO THE UNITED NATIONS
IN NEW YORK CITY REQUESTING THE UNITED NATIONS NOT
4 TO ISSUE ANY COMME140RATIVE STAMP OR EMBLEM HONOR-
ING OR IN ANY WAY PRAISING THE PALESTINE LIBERATION
5 ORGANIZATION; URGING AND REQUESTING THE UNITED
NATIONS TO CEASE AND DESIST IN TAKING ANY ACTION
WHICH WOULD ENHANCE OR DEMONSTRATE PUBLIC ACCLAIM
FOR THE ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE
PALESTINE LIBERATION ORGANIZATION BECAUSE OF THE
DETESTABLE AND DISCRIMINATORY NATURE OF THAT
8 ORGANIZATION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
9 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac has been
10 made aware of the fact that the United Nations in New York City
11 intends to issue some form of commemorative stamp or emblem honoring
12 or otherwise praising the Palestine Liberation Organization as a bona
13 fide political body; and
14 WHEREAS, the City Council has considered very -seriously the
15 action and/or the inaction taken by the Palestine Liberation Organiza-
16 tion through its lurid history; and
17 WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines the action
taken by the Palestine Liberation Organization is detestable and
discriminatory and that any honorarium should not be forthcoming from
20 the United States issued by the United Nations in light of the well-
21 known factual circumstances evolving around the terrorist organization
22 known as the Palestine Liberation Organization.
23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
24 FLORIDA:
25 SECTION 1: That the City of Tamarac City Council hereby
26 respectfully requests and urges'the United Nations to not issue any
27 type or kind of commemorative stamp or emblem honoring and otherwise
28 publicly praising the Palestine Liberation Organization.
29 SECTION 2: The City Council further directs the Mayor of
the City of Tamarac to forward this document in its approved form
directly to the Secretary General of the United Nations in order to
j2 publicly emphasize the disgusting and distasteful opinion this City
33 Council has for the issuance of such a commemorative stamp or emblem
34 based upon the action and/or inaction of the Palestine Liberation
35 Organization which has fostered terrorism throughout the world

SECTION 3: The Mayor of the City of Tamarac is authorized
and directed to publicly emphasize the displeasure of the City Council
concerning any prospective issuance of a commemorative stamp or
emblem.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk is hereby requested to forward a
copy of this Resolution to all municipalities in Broward County,
organizations in the City of Tamarac and the State Legislature.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption.
