R- =� A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A ONE YEAR EXTENSION OF AN AGREEMENT FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES BY BROWARD COUNTY WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL LIMITS OF TAMARAC. WHEREAS, that agreement by and between Broward County and the City of Tamarac provides that said Agreement may be extended for a one yeAr period by concurrence of the parties; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac desires to extend said Agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SECTION 1:That the City of Tamarac hereby expresses its desire to extend its existing Agreement between Broward County and Tamarac for emergency medical services by Broward County within the municipal limits of Tamarac for an additional term of one year. The appropriate City Officials are authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to extend the Agreement. SECTION 2:1-his Resolution shall become effective upon its adoption. OAL'W�' MAYOR: CITY ATTORNEY DISTRICT DISTRICT DISTRICT DISTRICT RECORD OF COUNCIL VOTE 81 c AGREEMENT Between BROWARD COUNTY and CITY OF TAMARAC PROVIDING FOR LOCATION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL UNITS WITHIN MUNICIPAL L IM,ITS AGREEMENT Between BROWARD COUNTY and CITY OF TAMARAC PROVIDING FGR LOCATION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL UNITS WITHIN MUNICIPAL LIMITS THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this day of , 19 , by and between: BROWARD COUNTY, a body politic and corporate, a political subdivision of the State of Florida, hereinafter - referred to as the COUNTY; and CITY OF TAMARAC , a municipal corporation of the State of Florida, hereinafter referred to as the MUNICIPALITY. WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, Broward County has an obligation to provide emergency medical services within the COUNTY; and WHEREAS, the CITY OF TAMARAC wishes to have emergency medical vehicles stationed within its jurisdictional limits; and WHEREAS, the CITY OF TAMARAC has suitable accoinrnuda- tions to house the vehicles; and WHEREAS, the establishment and maintenance of life saving acid dis- ability preventing Emergency Medical Services within the MUNICIPALITY, will aid in the reduction of morbidity and mortality from accidents, sudden or, acute illnesses, and other medical emergencies and will improve the quality of emergency medical service; and `Z WHEREAS, both the COUNTY and MUNICIPALITY deem the execu- tion of this Agreement to be in the best interest of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the MUNICIPALITY; NO1%, THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION of the mutual promises herein contained and other good and valuable consideration the receipt of which is hereby ack.novt- ledged, it is hereby agreed by and between the parties as follows: 1. COUNTY TO PROVIDE EMS UNIT(S) The COUNTY agrees to locate within the juri_,d;ctional limit_, of the MUNICIPALITY intensive care vehicle(s) 'equipped and r-nanned to provide advanced life support emergency medical services as defined by Florida State Laws. 2. HOUSING BY AUTHORITY The MUNICIPALITY agrees to provide suitable accommodations at its expense for the above -described vehicle(s) and Paramedics "lhile on duty at MUNICIPALITY for the duration of this Agreement or until this Agreement is modified in writing by the parties. The MUNICIPALITY ill pay all utilities, including but not limited to telephone, water and electricity, and all costs of upkeep and maintenance. While not in an emergency call response status, Br•o\%Ard t:vunL-y Para- medics will assist in routine housekeeping duties of the facility. 3. COUNTY'S PAYMENT OF EXPENSES The COUNTY agrees to be responsible for all expenses incurred in main- taining the vehicle(s) and its equipment including the installation c:nd maintenance of land line communication systems and other appropriate Emergency Medical Services alerting devices and equipm-nt necesszjr•y to the efficient operation and coordination of tht systern. 4. LIFE SUPPORT VEHICLE DISPATCH All requests by the police and fire departments of the MUNICIPALITY for life support vehicles shall be forwarded through the C.(A!NTY":) 119111, Communications System for coordination. 5. ACCIDENT OR EMERGENCY SCENE RESPOW�IBIL11IES Upon the arrival at any accident or emergency scene requiring Err ercjerrcy Medical Services, the Paramedics shall perform their IifE stahilizing a-rld support functions. The police and fire departments of the MUNICIPALITY will exercise control and supervision over any accident or emergency scene until the arrival of the Paramedics and will continue to provide support services as long as they are needed. 6. DISPATCH OF VEHICLES The COUNTY reserves the right to dispatch such intensive care vehicles as may be located within the MUNICIPALi i'Y to areas outside the juris- dictional limits of the MUNICIPALITY only ,hen needed on a "back-up" basis and when NOT in use within the MUNICIFALITY'S jurisdictional limits. 7. TERMINATION This Agreement may be terminated by either party upon thirty (30) days written notice, which notice shall be sent by Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. Notices required shall be sent to: COUNTY: County Administrator Room 248, Broward County Courthouse Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301 MUNICIPALITY: CITY OF TAMARAC City Manager 5811 N.W. 88 Avenue Tamarac, Florida 8. EFFECTIVE DATE This Agreement shall be effective for one (1) year from the dote of execution and may be extended for a lil<, period each year by ;1utu611 concurrence of the parties. 9. INDEMNIFICATION The COUNTY will at all times hereafter- indemnity and hold harmless to the fullest extent provided by law, the CITY, its officers, agents and employees, against any claims or losses resulting from the negligence of the COUNTY'S paramedics relating to the maintenance of or the living in the facility provided by the MUNICIPALITY.
