CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION URGING THE PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION REGULATING
THE DISPOSAL OF TOXIC CHEMICALS AND TOXIC WASTE
CONTAINERS; PROVIDING FOR TRUE COPIES; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the delicate environmental balance is particularly
susceptible to toxins which can be transmitted through the ecco-system to man,
and
WHEREAS, the agricultural, commercial and governmental industries
are increasing their uses of toxic chemicals, and
WHEREAS, the disposal of toxins and the containers in which the same
are stored or carried is of critical importance in protecting the
environment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: PROPOSAL. The City Council urges the U.S. Congress to
conduct investigations and to enact such legislation as the findings thereof
shall admit relative to the control and the disposal of toxins and toxic
agents and particularly, legislation obligating the suppliers of toxic
chemicals to collect and dispose of the containers in which such toxic
chemicals are delivered and/or stored.
SECTION 2: TRUE COPIES. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to send true copies of this Resolution to the Broward County United
States Congressional. Delegation and to the Environmental Protective Agency and
Federal Department of Transportation.
SECTION 3: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Resolution shall take effect
