RESOLUTION NO.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, ENDORSING THE FORMATION OF THE
BROVOM COUNTY ORGANIZED CRIME INVESTIGATION UNIT
AND PROVIDING FOR COOPERATION AND COORDINATION WITH
SUCH UNIT
WHEREAS, Chiefs of Police of the several municipalities of Broward County
desire to establish an organized crime unit in Broward County having effective
County -wide jurisdiction for the purpose of increasing the efficiency and the
effectiveness of law enforcement agencies' response to organized crime in South
Florida; and
WHEREAS, effective law enforcement opposition to organized crime, because
such crime crosses jurisdictional barriers, particularly requires cooperation and
concerted action among the various local law enforcement agencies; and
WHREAS, the City of Tamarac recognizes its responsibility to cooperate
with the Chiefs of Police of the various Broward County municipalities in
effective responses to the problem of organized crime in South Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
SECTION 1: That the City of Tamarac does hereby endorse and support the
formation by the Chiefs of Police of the several Broward County municipalities of
an organized crime unit to be known as the Broward County Organized Crime Invest-
igation Unit and that the Chief of Police of the City of Tamarac be and he is
hereby authorized and requested to coordinate the law enforcement programs, policie
and activities of the Tamarac Police Department with such organized crime unit and
to assist such unit wherever possible with personnel and facilities subject to his
jurisdiction.
