CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC URGING THE
UNITED STATES POSTAL AUTHORITY TO ISSUE A
COMMEMORATIVE STAMP TO HONOR THE HANDICAPPED
DURING THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF THE DISABLED
PERSON AS RECOGNIZED BY THE UNITED NATIONS;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac is always
supportive of its citizens and their needs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that the disabled
person is a useful and productive member of society and empathizes
with the disabled as to their special needs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council realizes the importance of
enlightening the general public as to the unique requirements of the
disabled and commends the disabled citizens for their vast contribu-
tions to American society; and
WHEREAS, the United Nations has declared 1981 to be the
;International Year of the Disabled Person,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City Council hereby urges the
United States to issue a commemorative stamp to honor the handicapped
during the International Year of the Disabled Person.
SECTION 2: That the City Clerk is directed to furnish
copies of this Resolution to all municipalities in Broward County.
SECTION 3: That this Resolution shall become effective
upon its adoption.
