CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO./12— —/oZ
A RESOLUTION URGING THE DISSOLUTION OF THE SUNSET DRAINAGE
DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Sunset Drainage District was established via an Order
issued by Judge Weissing in 1971,and
WHEREAS, the Sunset Drainage Distri'ct has been totally inactive since
at least 1975, and
WHEREAS, the Sunset Drainage District has never performed any improve-
ments within the City of Tamarac, and
WHEREAS, the Sunset Drainage Distri'ct's area is entirely within the
City of Tamarac, and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac City Council is more than adequately dealing
with drainage problems within the City, and
WHEREAS, a viable Sunset Drainage District could create confusion
concerning the authority for controlling drainage within the City of Tamarac, and
WHEREAS, the Sunset Drainage District was created as a tool to help
Leadership Housing, Inc.,and
WHEREAS, Leadership Housing, Inc. is no longer developing property
within the -City of Tamarac, and
WHEREAS, the electorate in the entire United States has indicated in
the 1980 election that it is desirous of having less rather than more government,
and
WHEREAS, President Reagan has promised that his first acts as
President will be to reduce the size of the Federal bureaucracy, and
WHEREAS, this message should have been received and should be followed
at the local level, and
WHEREAS, a viable Sunset Drainage District would create an additional
level of bureaucracy and would serve unnecessary functions.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLUEDBY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing recitations are true and correct.
SECTION 2: That the City Council urges the Florida Legislature to
enact a Special Act that would abolish and dissolve the Sunset Drainage District.

SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption and
a copy shall be furnished to each member of the Broward County Legislative
Delegation.
