CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R- 2020
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICALS TO SUBMIT A GRANT
APPLICATION THROUGH THE BROWARD METROPOLITAN
PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO) FOR A PLANNING TECHNICAL
ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (PTAP) GRANT FOR AN AMERICANS
WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) TRANSIT ACCESSIBILITY STUDY
AND SIDEWALK GAP ANALYSIS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$200,000, PROVIDING FOR AT LEAST A 10% MATCH IN LOCAL
FUNDS OR $10,000 WHICHEVER IS GREATER IN AN AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED $20,000 IN THE EVENT OF APPROVAL OF THE
APPLICATION; PROVIDING FOR ACCEPTANCE OF THE AWARD
AND EXECUTION OF NECESSARY DOCUMENTS PENDING LEGAL
REVIEW; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SERVERABILITY, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to enhance public
safety and access to multi-modal transportation throughout Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to improve public access and safety to Broward
County Transit (BCT) routes through enhanced sidewalk connectivity and ADA
accessibility in neighborhoods throughout Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Technical Assistance Program (PTAP) is a new Federal
Transit Administration (FTA) grant program providing funding for transportation related
projects and planning studies that lead to transportation projects; and
WHEREAS, PTAP grants are available to Broward municipalities via a competitive
grant application process administered through the Broward Metropolitan Planning
Organization (MPO); and

WHEREAS, the Broward MPO is now accepting PTAP grant applications for
transportation related projects and planning studies; and
WHEREAS, the PTAP grant program requires and the City of Tamarac maintains
an interlocal agreement (ILA) for planning services with the Broward MPO as a condition
to apply for PTAP funds; and
WHEREAS, the PTAP grant program requires and the City agrees to provide a
Resolution of support for an ADA Transit Accessibility Study and Sidewalk Gap Analysis
of neighborhoods throughout Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the PTAP grant program requires and the City agrees to include a
public outreach component in said study and to provide a lead City staff person to
coordinate with MPO staff in the event of approval of the application; and
WHEREAS, the PTAP grant program requires and the City agrees to provide at
least a 10% match in local funds or $10,000 whichever is greater in an amount not to
exceed $20,000 in the event of approval of the grant application; and
WHEREAS, the Directors of Community Development, Public Services and
Financial Services recommend submission of the PTAP grant application and acceptance
of the award in the event of approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the best
interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to apply for a PTAP grant for
an ADA Transit Accessibility Study and Sidewalk Gap Analysis via an application through
the Broward MPO, and to accept the award and execute the necessary documents
following legal review.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
Section 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are HEREBY ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are HEREBY made a specific part of this
Resolution. All exhibits attached HERETO and referenced HEREIN are expressly
incorporated and made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: The City Commission of the City of Tamarac HEREBY provides
approval of an application to be submitted to the Broward Metropolitan Planning
Organization (MPO) for a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Planning Technical
Assistance Program (PTAP) grant.
Section 3: The appropriate City Officials are HEREBY authorized to apply for a
Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Planning Technical Assistance Program (PTAP)
grant via an application submitted through the Broward Metropolitan Planning
Organization (MPO) for an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transit Accessibility
Study and Sidewalk Gap Analysis in an amount not to exceed $200,000, providing for at
least a 10% match in local funds or $10,000 whichever is greater in an amount not to
exceed $20,000 in the event of approval of the application. A copy of the notice of funding
availability (NOFA) is attached HERETO as "Exhibit A" and is incorporated HEREIN by
this reference.
Section 4: Upon approval of the PTAP grant application, the City Commission of
the City of Tamarac HEREBY accepts the award and authorizes the appropriate City
officials to execute the necessary documents following legal review.

Section 5: All Resolutions in conflict herewith are HEREBY repealed to the extent
of such conflict.
Section 6: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held
by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this
Resolution.
Section 7: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
