CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2020- 033
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
CONFIRMING APPOINTMENT OF OMAR JIRAU
AND STEVEN KORTE AS FIREFIGHTER
ELECTED TRUSTEES OF THE FIREFIGHTER
PENSION BOARD TO EACH SERVE A FOUR-
YEAR TERM ENDING MAY 13, 2024, OR UNTIL
NEW APPOINTMENTS ARE MADE; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 16-331(a) of the Tamarac Code of Code of Ordinances
provides for appointment of Trustees to the City of Tamarac Firefighter Pension
Board; and
WHEREAS, Section 175.032(8)(a), F.S. provides that two (2)Trustees shall
be appointed as Firefighter Elected Trustees and appointed as a ministerial act by
the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the terms of the Firefighter Elected Trustees, Omar Jirau and
Steven Korte, expired March 18, 2020; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk's Office held a duly noticed nomination period
for Firefighter Elected Trustees from March 2, 2020 through March 16, 2020, which
garnered two nominations; and

WHEREAS, Omar Jirau and Steven Korte accepted their nominations as
Firefighter Elected Trustees; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of confirming the appointment
of Omar Jirau and Steven Korte as Firefighter Elected Trustees to the Firefighter
Pension Board and to each serve a four-year term ending May 13, 2024, or until
such time as reappointments are made; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac Firefighter Pension Board of Trustees will have a
full complement of Trustees following the appointment of the Omar Jirau and
Steven Korte; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to confirm
the appointments of Omar Jirau and Steven Korte as Firefighter Elected Trustees
to the Tamarac Firefighter Pension Board of Trustees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:

SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution. All exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a
specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City Commission of the City of Tamarac confirms the
appointments of Omar Jirau and Steven Korte, as Firefighter Elected Trustees to
the Tamarac Firefighter Pension Board to each serve four-year terms, ending May
13, 2024, or until new appointments are made.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
