CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2020 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT
APPLICATION TO THE FLORIDA DIVISION OF
CULTURAL AFFAIRS CULTURAL FACILITIES
PROGRAM REQUESTING $300,000 FOR THE
SUNSET HAMMOCK PROJECT AND FURTHER
AUTHORIZING AN AMOUNT OF $600,000 AS THE
CITY'S REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has the opportunity to apply for funding in the
amount of Three Hundred Thousand ($300,000) Dollars for the Cultural Facilities Program
project the Sunset Hammock Project, with the stipulation of a 2 to 1 matching funds; and
WHEREAS, funding in the amount of$600,000 necessary for the required match,
will be available on July 1, 2021; and
WHEREAS, a Resolution authorization the submission of the application and
availability of the matching funds is required for completeness of the application; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Community Development recommends approval of the
Resolution authorizing submission of an application to the Florida Division of Cultural
Affairs Cultural Facilities Program for the Sunset Hammock Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to submit a grant
application to the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Cultural Facilities Program requesting
$300,000 for the Sunset Hammock Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac further deems it to be in the best interests of the
citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to authorize an amount of $600,000 as the

City's required matching funds; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
All exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission hereby authorizes the submission of a
grant application in the amount of $300,000 and an expenditure of $600,000 to be
available by July 1, 2021 from the Land and Water Conservation Grant and the City's
Public Art Fund for required matching funds for a grant application to the Florida Division of
Cultural Affairs in quest for funding the Sunset Hammock Project.
SECTION 3: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.

Hi Monica-My apologies for the delay. Yes, it appears I'm correct. The grant was recommended by the agency
but the program was not funded by the Legislature. Although this makes us eligible to "rollover" our
IAMARAC application to the upcoming cycle, the award timeline would be too late for our project timeline,
—‘ /1 so Maxine recommended we withdraw our application and submit a new one in a future cycle.
