CITY OF TAMARAC,FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. 2020- 0 12-
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA; AMENDING CHAPTER 2, "ADMINISTRATION", ARTICLE I "IN
GENERAL", OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC CODE OF ORDINANCES BY
CREATING SECTION 2-3, "CITY HOLIDAYS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida is desirous of updating and
codifying its Administrative Policy regarding City Holidays;
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida finds that codifying the
Administrative Policy regarding City Holidays is in the best interests of the citizens of the City and its
employees.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Commission of the City of Tamarac,
Florida that:
Section 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" recitals are hereby ratified and confirmed as being
true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance upon adoption hereof.
Section 2: The City Commission hereby amends Chapter 2 "Administration", Article I "In
General" of the Tamarac Code of Ordinances,by creating Section 2-3 "City Holidays"to read as follows:
Sec.2-3.—City Holidays
(a)The following holidays shall be paid employee holidays observed by the City:
1.New Year's Day;
2. Martin Luther King,Jr.'s Day;
3. President's Day;
4. Memorial Day;
5.Juneteenth Day;
6. Independence Day;
7. Labor Day;
8.Veteran's Day;
9. Thanksgiving Day;
10. Day after Thanksgiving;
11. Christmas Eve;and
12. Christmas Day.

(b) If any of these holidays falls on Saturday,the preceding Friday shall be observed as a holiday.
If any of these holidays falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as a
holiday.
(c) The City Manager shall have the discretion to implement by administrative policy the
application of the observance of the paid holidays for bargaining, non-bargaining, exempt,
non-exempt, part-time, and full time employees to maintain the operational integrity of City
functions and the contractual obligations of the City.
Section 3: It is the intention of the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida that the
provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Tamarac, Florida, and that the Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered, re-lettered and the word
"Ordinance" may be changed to "Section," "Article" or such other word or phrase in order to accomplish
such intention.
Section 4: If any clause, section, or other part or application of this Ordinance shall be held
by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, such unconstitutional or invalid
part or application shall be considered as eliminated and so not affecting the remaining portions or
applications remaining in full force and effect.
Section 5: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
