R-2020 - !IT A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE CERTIFIED RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 3, 2020, MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR ONE CITY COMMISSIONER IN DISTRICT 1, AND ONE CITY COMMISSION IN DISTRICT 3; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a Municipal Election was held November 3, 2020, wherein the electorate of the City of Tamarac elected one candidate for City Commissioner District 1, and one candidate for City Commissioner District 3 ; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Canvassing Board has canvassed the Vote-by-Mail, and in person ballots, and has certified such results to the City Clerk of the City of Tamarac ; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has reviewed the certification from the Broward County Canvassing Board and has presented their findings to the City Commission formal acceptance and declaration of those results ; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to declare the results of the November 3, 2020, Municipal Election for the offices of City Commissioner District 1 and City Commissioner District 3. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT: Temp. Reso. #13512 Nov. 16, 2020 Page 2 of 3 SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. All exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the following are the certified results of the votes received by the candidates seeking the office of City Commissioner District 1 at the Municipal Election held November 3, 2020: Marlon Bolton 6,504 Michelle "Chef" Jones 2,230 SECTION 3: That Marlon Bolton, having received the greatest number of votes is therefore declared to have been elected as City Commissioner District 1 in the City of Tamarac for a term of four years. SECTION 4: That the following are the certified results of the votes received by the candidates seeing the office of City Commissioner District 3 at the Municipal Election held November 3, 2020: Julie Fishman 4,336 Elvin Villalobos 4,440 Jodie-Ann Wright 1,106 Section 5: That Elvin Villalobos, having received the greatest number of votes is therefore declared to have been elected as City Commissioner District 3 in the City of Tamarac for a term of four years. SECTION 6: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Temp. Reso. #13512 Nov. 16, 2020 Page 3 of 3 SECTION 7: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
